So with this season, I was half expecting them to go back to a cool art style. Given the setting of the story, Alola, it was fitting. Suddenly, visually, the anime felt more "fun". It still had poorly animated episodes, but what really learned to shine was how expressive and free this new direction was. While the art style on it's own wasn't that same "Cool" vibe we originally had, what wasn't lacking was the animation front. Remember that "younger audience" comment. Ash, ironically, looked even younger, and it really did feel like it was marketed towards a younger audience. a Litten! It initially looked like a completely different series. A fully evolved season that had "cool" slapped all over it. Think about the difference between a Quilava and a Typhlosion. I'll start with something I'm not very good at putting into words.Įveryone is aware of the art style that spanned across the first six generations, and although you can see the differences between the two, they never really evolved. I only just want to talk about it, this is hardly a review but I just want to tell you to watch this. I am 23 years old and I have a big confession to make. And so the duo's journey begins, traveling across multiple regions to meet many new Pokémon-including ones that have the ability to Gigantamax! Impressed by Gou's findings and Satoshi's insight taken during their encounter, Sakuragi requests for the duo to be his new research partners. As it lets the two back on the ground, Satoshi and Gou bid their farewells to Lugia and return to Sakuragi Institute. The two ride on Lugia's back as it brings them along on a bizarre adventure across the seas. To Satoshi's surprise, he meets another boy, Gou, who leapt onto Lugia's back as well. Unfazed, Lugia flees, but not before Satoshi determinedly leaps onto its back. ![]() Noticing the other trainers' tactics, Satoshi has his partner, Pikachu, strike Lugia with a Thunderbolt attack. At the harbor, they find Lugia-a Legendary Pokémon-engaged in combat with other trainers. During the ceremonial speech, Professor Sakuragi receives an alert of a possibly rare Pokémon appearing in Vermillion City's harbor, leading Satoshi and the other trainers to rush to the area in hopes of finding the mysterious Pokémon. On a new day in the Kanto region, Satoshi gets invited by Professor Yukinari Ookido over to Professor Sakuragi's lab-opening ceremony in Vermillion City. ![]()
